Fixture Release and Schedule Adjustments

The fixtures for the 2024–25 Premier League season were released on 18 June at 09:00 BST, featuring 33 weekend rounds, four midweek rounds, and one Bank Holiday matchweek. The two-week winter break has been scrapped in favor of a longer summer break for players. To accommodate the holiday period between Christmas and New Year’s Day, longer intervals between matches have been introduced, with no games scheduled for Christmas Eve.

Transfer Windows

The summer transfer window opened on 14 June 2024 and will close at 23:00 BST on 30 August 2024. The winter transfer window will be open from 1 January 2025 to 3 February 2025, also closing at 23:00 BST. This season will be the first to introduce semi-automated offside technology, agreed upon unanimously by Premier League clubs and set to be implemented after an autumn international break.

Defending Champions and Team Composition

Manchester City enters the season as the four-time defending champions. The league consists of 20 teams: the top 17 from the previous season and three promoted from the Championship. The promoted teams are Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton. Leicester City and Southampton return after one-year absences, while Ipswich Town returns after a 22-year absence. These teams replace Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United, who were relegated to the Championship after just one season, marking the first instance since the 1997–98 season that all three promoted teams were relegated after one year. Notably, this is the first season since 2015–16 without a team from Yorkshire.

Stadiums and Locations

The league features various stadiums across England, including seven teams based in London: Arsenal (Emirates Stadium, 60,704 capacity), Brentford (Gtech Community Stadium, 17,250 capacity), Chelsea (Stamford Bridge, 40,343 capacity), Crystal Palace (Selhurst Park, 25,486 capacity), Fulham (Craven Cottage, 24,500 capacity), Tottenham Hotspur (Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 62,850 capacity), and West Ham United (London Stadium, 62,500 capacity). Other teams and their stadiums include Aston Villa (Villa Park, 42,657 capacity), Bournemouth (Vitality Stadium, 11,307 capacity), Brighton & Hove Albion (American Express Stadium, 31,876 capacity), Everton (Goodison Park, 39,414 capacity), Ipswich Town (Portman Road, 29,673 capacity), Leicester City (King Power Stadium, 32,262 capacity), Liverpool (Anfield, 61,276 capacity), Manchester City (Etihad Stadium, 53,400 capacity), Manchester United (Old Trafford, 74,031 capacity), Newcastle United (St James’ Park, 52,257 capacity), Nottingham Forest (City Ground, 30,404 capacity), Southampton (St Mary’s Stadium, 32,384 capacity), and Wolverhampton Wanderers (Molineux Stadium, 31,750 capacity). This will be the final season Everton plays at Goodison Park before moving to Everton Stadium.

Classification rules prioritize points, goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head records, away goals in head-to-head matches, and play-offs to determine champions, relegated teams, and UEFA competition qualifiers.
