Paris Saint-Germain F.C.

Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, often known as Paris Saint-Germain or simply PSG, is a professional football team based in Paris, France. Competing in Ligue 1, the highest division in French football, PSG is France’s most successful club, boasting 50 official titles, including twelve league championships and one major European trophy. Their home stadium is Parc des Princes, situated in the 16th arrondissement of Paris near Boulogne-Billancourt.

Founded in 1970 from the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain, PSG secured their first major title, the French Cup, in 1982, and their first league title in 1986. The 1990s were particularly successful for the club, with a second league title, three French Cups, two French League Cups, two French Super Cups, and the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. The club faced challenges in the 2000s but experienced a resurgence after being acquired by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. With significant financial backing, PSG has dominated domestic competitions, securing multiple league titles and national cups, and has become a regular contender in the UEFA Champions League, reaching their first final in 2020.

PSG holds the record for the most consecutive seasons in France’s top division and is one of only two French clubs to have won a major European title. They are the most popular football club in France and enjoy a vast global following. The team’s home colors are red, blue, and white, and their crest features the Eiffel Tower and a fleur-de-lis. PSG has a fierce rivalry with Marseille, with their matches known as Le Classique.

Since 2011, PSG has been primarily owned by Qatar Sports Investments, which holds 87.5% of the shares, while the American investment firm Arctos Partners owns the remaining 12.5%. PSG is the wealthiest club in France and ranks among the richest globally. According to Deloitte, PSG has the third-highest revenue in world football, earning €802 million annually, and Forbes values the club at $4.21 billion, making it the seventh-most valuable football team in the world.
