Inter Milan
Football Club Internazionale Milano, commonly known as Internazionale or simply Inter, and often referred to as Inter Milan in English-speaking countries, is a professional football club based in Milan, Lombardy, Italy. Since its establishment in 1908, following a split from the Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club (now AC Milan), Inter has continuously competed in Italy’s top football division.
The club claimed its first league title in 1910 and has accumulated a total of 36 domestic trophies, including 20 league titles, nine Coppa Italia, and eight Supercoppa Italiana. Between 2006 and 2010, Inter achieved a record-tying five consecutive league titles. On the European stage, Inter has won the European Cup/Champions League three times—twice in consecutive years, 1964 and 1965, and again in 2010, completing an unprecedented Italian treble that year by also winning the Coppa Italia and the Scudetto. Additionally, Inter has secured three UEFA Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
Inter plays its home matches at the San Siro stadium, which it shares with city rivals AC Milan. The San Siro is the largest stadium in Italian football, with a capacity of 75,817. The club has notable rivalries with Milan, leading to the Derby della Madonnina, and Juventus, featuring the Derby d’Italia. As of 2019, Inter has the highest average home attendance in Italy and the sixth-highest in Europe. Since May 2024, the club is owned by the American asset management firm Oaktree Capital Management and is recognized as one of the most valuable football clubs in Italy and globally.
