Chelsea have agreed to sell midfielder Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid after he rejected a new contract with the Blues in June.
The 24-year-old England international can now negotiate personal terms with the Spanish club following an accepted bid of approximately £33 million, as reported by Spanish sources.
Chelsea, preferring to sell Gallagher to a club outside the Premier League, opted for the lower bid from Atletico Madrid rather than the £45 million offer discussed with Aston Villa in June.
Despite the agreement, it remains uncertain whether Gallagher will accept the move overseas. Chelsea are ready to proceed with the sale as Gallagher has less than a year remaining on his current contract. He had previously turned down a three-year contract, structured as a two-year deal with an option for an additional year, back in June.
Gallagher could also choose to leave Chelsea on a free transfer next summer. He has previously attracted interest from Tottenham, West Ham, and Everton.
