Brentford has officially signed 21-year-old winger Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool in a transfer deal valued at £27.5 million, including add-ons.
Carvalho, who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City, has committed to a five-year contract with Brentford, which includes an option for an additional year.
Liverpool will receive an initial payment of £22.5 million, and the deal also includes a 17.5% sell-on clause for the Reds.
Fulham, Carvalho’s former club, will benefit from the transfer as well, receiving 20% of the profit made from his move to Brentford, having initially sold the Portuguese winger to Liverpool in 2022.
Brentford won the race for Carvalho’s signature, outmaneuvering Southampton, whose £15 million offer was previously rejected by Liverpool.
Carvalho had a challenging stint at Liverpool, where he scored three goals in 21 competitive matches.
He began the 2023-24 season on loan at RB Leipzig, but after limited playing time, he returned to England in December and joined Hull City in the Championship.
Carvalho found better form with Hull, netting nine goals in 20 appearances, though the team narrowly missed out on a play-off position.
