Kai Havertz confirm out for rest of the season due to hamstring injury

Arsenal have officially confirmed that forward Kai Havertz will miss the remainder of the 2024-2025 season after sustaining a hamstring injury during the team’s training camp in Dubai. The 25-year-old will undergo surgery and is expected to continue his rehabilitation through the pre-season, preparing for the 2025-26 campaign.

Havertz’s injury will leave Arsenal without a recognized striker for the rest of this season, compounding the club’s injury crisis. The Athletic was the first to report that Havertz had torn his hamstring and would likely be sidelined for the season.

An official statement from Arsenal confirmed the injury, stating, “Kai Havertz has sustained a hamstring injury during a training session in Dubai last week. Subsequent assessments and specialist reviews have confirmed that the injury will require surgery, which will take place soon.”

Following surgery, Havertz will begin his recovery and rehabilitation, with his return expected to coincide with pre-season training for the 2025-26 season. Arsenal reiterated their commitment to supporting the player’s recovery and ensuring he returns to full fitness.

Manager Mikel Arteta is expected to address the injury during his press conference ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming match against Leicester City. Arsenal’s injury list is growing, with striker Gabriel Jesus recovering from ACL surgery and star forward Bukayo Saka also recovering from a hamstring injury. Gabriel Martinelli is also out due to a hamstring injury, further depleting the squad.

Havertz has been a key player for Arsenal this season, making 34 appearances and contributing 15 goals and five assists. His absence, along with the club’s inability to secure attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, leaves Arsenal’s squad seriously lacking in goal-scoring options.

Arteta had previously indicated that Havertz might have to start every match for the remainder of the season. With other options like wingers Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling, and Ethan Nwaneri available, the manager will be looking to adapt his strategy.

After being eliminated from the EFL Cup and with no involvement in the FA Cup this season, Arsenal has shifted focus to their Premier League campaign, where they sit second, trailing leaders Liverpool by seven points.
